Email me, Carolina, to find out more.

SOFII is always looking for new volunteers to help us research, edit or translate material for the site, help us fundraise, promote and generally spread the word about SOFII. So if you have some time to spare and would like to join our vibrant team then email Carolina, our project manager, for more information.

Volunteers are one of our most valuable assets and we are extremely grateful for the skills, time and knowledge they share with us. That is why we also aim to offer a flexible programme that enables people from all around the world to volunteer with us from the comfort of their own home (provided they have an internet connection).

Meet our current volunteers:

SOFII volunteer translator - French

Jenny Craven

My name's Jenny and I've been in the charity sector for around four years. I first got involved in the charity sector when I was living in France after I finished my degree in French at Uni, and since then, I've volunteered and interned as a fundraiser for various human rights charities.

My current role is Donor Development Officer for the Refugee Council, which works directly with refugees in the UK who have fled situations of war, conflict and persecution in their countries, providing practical and emotional support to rebuild their lives in safety. My role is the acquisition and retention of individual donors. This involves DM and digital fundraising and marketing amongst other activities. I'm extremely passionate about the work of the Refugee Council and how the funds raised tangibly changes people's lives; providing food and clothes to destitute asylum seekers and refugees, emergency packs to vulnerable families and guiding separated child refugees through the asylum system and get released from detention centres.

I'm delighted to be involved with SOFII and translate their exhibits into French. SOFII has been crucial to my development as a fundraiser, helping me to further my knowledge of fundraising from my first voluntary role in the charity sector, throughout my internships and inspires me to create innovative fundraising appeals and campaigns to this day at the Refugee Council. I'm happy to have the chance to contribute to SOFII to benefit other fundraisers in the way that SOFII has helped me.

Aside from fundraising, I enjoy drawing, travelling and, being a Francophile, I'm an avid foodie (both cooking and eating).

My name is Luz , I am originally from Guatemala but I was raised in Costa Rica.

My experience in working for the non-profit sector started in Costa Rica when I did my first internship at the Inter-American Institute for Human Rights (IIDH). Owing to this experience, I decided to do a Master in Human Rights and Democratisation in Venice, Italy. After finishing my Master’s I moved to Brussels and later on to Vienna to keep working for the non-profit sector.

My career development took me to the fundraising area where I became curios to learn further and enroll in a certificate in fundraising. For this reason, I decided to complement the certificate with a volunteer opportunity. I decided to choose SOFII because of its professionalism and appreciation within the fundraising network.

This volunteer experience helped me very much to learn in depth about case studies and best practices from other charities in different fundraising categories.

I will be always very thankful with SOFII for allowing me to have this opportunity and most of all with Carolina for all her help and guidance from far away! (as she is based in Singapore and I am in Vienna).

Keep up the good work SOFII!

Luz
